Candle and Wax Burner Care – Including Advice and Tips as well as guidelines of how to get the most from your candle and burner in a safely manner.

How to care for your Soy Candle

Keep the wick always trimmed to 1/4 inch. It is suggested to trim the wick every 4 hours of burn time. When wick trimming, you should always extinguish the flame, let the candle come to room temperature, and trim the wick before relighting. Simply trim the wick before lighting each time.

Keep burning candles away from fabrics and draughts such as fans, open windows, furniture, drapes, bedding, carpets, books, paper, flammable decorations, etc. Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. Do not place lighted candles where they can be knocked over by children, pets, or anyone else.

The first burn: This should be approximately 3 – 4 hours. This should be sufficient time to create a wax pool that covers the surface of the candle and this will stop ‘tunnelling’ from occurring.

Only burn a Candle for a maximum of 4 hours at a time.

Always keep a Candle burning where you can see it, extinguishing candles before leaving a room or going to sleep. Make sure the wick ember is no longer glowing.

Do not burn the candle all the way down, extinguish the flame if it comes too close to the holder or container. From the safety aspect discontinue burning the candle when ½ an inch is left in the tin or container candle. NEVER exposes the metal sustainers.

Wax will melt as the candle burns. This melted pool of wax is normal, and it is actually responsible for sustaining the flame and for scent. … Never pour off this melted wax unless the flame is very low, and you wish to enlarge it. If wax is poured out, always extinguish the candle before pouring.

Soy candles can burn anywhere from 35% to over 50% longer than paraffin candles because soy wax has a lower melting point, making it a cooler burning temperature than paraffin wax. … They also burn evenly, minimizing unburned wax left on the sides of the candle container.

How to safety use your Wax Burner

Wax melt burners vary in size and depth of dish. Wax melts may become larger in volume than expected when they melt to liquid form.  Please add small amounts of wax gradually to ensure that the burner does not overflow.

Overfilling a wax melt burner is dangerous and may cause fire.

Wax melt burners should always be placed on a heat proof surface.

It is essential to use the appropriate size tea light for your burner.  A tea light that is too close to the bowl/dish may cause overheating and cracking. An appropriate size tea light is one that burns for approximately four hours.

Never use more than one tea light.

Always ensure that there is sufficient wax in the bowl/dish at all times as heating an empty bowl/dish may cause it to crack.

Always ensure that the wick on the tea light is trimmed and that the flame does not come into contact with the dish.

Do not add water to hot wax as it can be dangerous. Take care with hot wax as it can cause burns to skin.
